This single-storied cottage was constructed by Maurice Driscoll, stonemason, as his own home after 1855. In that year, Driscoll was living on the site in a timber cottage. These two cottages were erected in the 1850s, No 8 being constructed in 1856 by Thomas Philpin, Landing Waiter in the Customs Office as his residence, whilst No 6 was constructed in 1859 by S J Bayly as a Solicitor's Office. These simple, symmetrical cottages feature a central doorway and twelve pane sashes to either side.
