Courcelle Organ - Uniting Church

One of the seven known organs exported to Victoria in the 1860s by London organbuilder John Courcelle, this single-manual instrument of five stops is thought to have been placed in the Wesleyan Church, Fitzroy Street, St Kilda before its installation at Kensington, possibly in the 1920's. The instrument is intact, apart from the introduction of electric blowing, and retains its gabled Gothic case of three flats, oak console fittings and bold voicing. Classified: 04/05/1989

Designed in 1938 by J H Wardrop, this is Victoria's most articulate example in the Moderne manner. This hotel was a development in three dimensions of the theme so ably expressed in the architects contemporary Al kira House. The building is greatly enhanced by its near island siting and is externally and internally near original, with the exception of post-war rear additions. The 1957 addition to the South is excluded. Frederick Taylor Pipe Organ - Armadale Uniting Church

The pipe organ built in 1912-14 is the most substantial example of an instrument by the Hawthorn organbuilder Frederick Taylor to survive. The organ was notable at the time for its symphonic tonal style. While the original action was converted to electro-pneumatic in 1975 and some minor tonal additions made at this time, almost all of the original pipework survives. This two storey brick hall was built in three weeks for two thousand pounds in 1877 for Hon James Munro, M L A by John Pigdon, a prominent local councillor and builder. Later in 1877 a substantial and more elaborately detailed rendered brick extension was added on to the front of the building which has been used by the Carlton Mechanics Instutite and for various community activities. A two-manual instrument, originally of 20 speaking stops, built in 1874 for the earlier Wesleyan Church in Lydiard Street, Ballarat by George Fincham and moved to its present location in 1892.
