A group of seven two-storey brick houses built in 1874 by the owner, H S Blackman, with a very plain roof parapet and with a minimum of ornamentation to the party walls, doors and windows. A terrace of eight two-storeyed houses built in stages in the 1850s for Hugh Glass, a prominent politician and financial figure in post-Gold Rush Melbourne. The houses are an early survival in Melbourne of terrace housing with Georgian characteristics and are attributed to the architect David Ross . A terrace of six largetwo storey houses built 1883-85 for John Gordon, slate merchant. Gordon owned the premises until 1902. The two storeyrendered brick structure has a two storey cast iron verandah. Each house is punctuated by a pedimented name plate on the parapet.
