Built of locally quarried stone with brick quoining around the doors and small window openings, and shingles visible under the later corrugated iron roof. Mount Mitchell Homestead at Lexton was designed by the prominent architect Charles Webb and built in 1860-61 for the Robertson family to replace an earlier homestead. Webb (1821-98) was one of the most prominent architects in the early colony of Victoria and designed some of Melbourne's most important buildings. The stuccoed villa is single storied and symmetrically planned with an encircling verandah supported on paired cast iron columns and a gabled central porch with finial. Homestead Statement of Significance: Point Cook Homestead, is a large, rambling bluestone house built in stages for pastorialist Thomas Chirnside, from probably 1850 onwards. Each wing dates from a different period. Single-storied, the homestead is constructed with bluestone walls, although some portions are timber, and slate roofs.
