The Former Office of Warden of Goldfields is a rectangular, timber structure prefabricated in Victoria c.1857 and first used by the Warden. The structure is reputed to have been moved four times after its initial erection, serving largely Colonial Government uses. Beechworth Forests Offices were erected to designs of the Public Works Department. They originally comprised public offices for the Chinese Protector and the Warden of the Goldfields. The Chinese Protector's Office dates from 1858. It is a simple stone structure with a hipped roof and a verandah to the street facade. The Warden's Office was erected 1859-60.
