Outstanding size One of a group of eight trees in a circle around a venerable parent tree. This tree is the tallest of the group and is bifurcated at 36m. The tree has a well formed trunk and canopy and features the distinctive rough stringy bark of the species. The stand is the most southerly occurrence of the species in Victoria. Particularly old Outstanding size An uncommon species in Victoria, this tree appears to be the oldest example in the region. The tree has numerous dead 'stags' along the trunk and crown. Whilst the trunk circumference measures 13m, the live tissue has a breadth of only 6m. This tree is presumably the parent plant of about eight other trees surrounding it. The New Street Railway Gates, established in 1883 but probably altered at the time of the line duplication in 1902, comprise double hand-operated timber gates, a weatherboard gatekeeper's cabin, a lever hut to operate the pedestrian gates, a weatherboard outhouse attached to the cabin (probably added later), picket fences, and two electronic signals operated from the cabin.
