Former Ballarat Star Hotel 226 - 228 Swanston Street,, MELBOURNE VIC 3000 - Property No B6613	The present building constructed in 1888 to the design of Twentyman and Askew Architects replaced a small hotel wthich had occupied the site since 1855. The building is very narrow for its height and is of restrained plaster decoration for its date of construction. Former Ballarat East Free Library 25-29 Barkly Street, BALLARAT EAST VIC 3350 - Property No B1059	An imposing but unusual design using coloured brick-work to define separate highly individual elements of the facade. The building is the only known work of the architect C Ohlfsen Bagge, and dates from 1867. At that date it represents an early use of coloured brick-work in Victoria.
