The site of Ramorinie was originally part of Fenwick's Lot 87 and passed to George Turner in 1856. He bought a small timber house on the site. James Maitland Campbell a Scottish solicitor, practising in Melbourne was looking for a site to build a permanent home and bought Turner's cottage and land.
