Rosebank near the Tower Hill craters, was erected in stages, firstly as a stone cottage c. 1852-60, with later substantial additions after 1881. Both stages were built for self-improved Scottish labourer David McLaws who arrived at Port Fairy in 1843. The two storey brick & stone House 'Rosebank' was apparently erected in two stages as a single storey stone house of 4 rooms for Isaac Westcott. Alexander Gray purchsed the property c.1860 and constructed extensive two storey Victorian Italianate style additions c.1873.
