The Mortlake Flour Mill was established by George Bostock in 1856 as a three storey squared rubble bluestone structure of utilitarian design. In 1857 Warrnambool builders Aikman, Hamilton and Geddes purchased the wind-powered mill, installed a steam engine and erected the impressive square plan stone chimney.
