An early timber cottage, of local architectural and historical significance. Hasting's Cottage appears to have been constructed in c.1873 and extended in c.1881 by William Hastings, a resident of the Warrandyte area since the mid 1860s and thought to have been a miner on the Anderson's Creek gold diggings. The cottage continued to be occupied after Hastings' death in 1892 by his daughter and son-in-law for much of the twentieth century and remained in continuous family ownership
