Statement of Significance

A two-storey stone warehouse building constructed in 1857 for the firm of Katzenstein and Co. It is significant for its links with the early merchandising activities of the central commerical area. Attached to the building is the roof of the Howey Place arcade, the front truss of which is all that survives of the famous Coles Funny Picture Book arcade.
