Statement of Significance

What is significant?

The brick house built at 15 Clydebank Court is significant.

How is it significant?

The house at 15 Clydebank Court is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the City of Greater Bendigo.

Why is it significant?

15 Clydebank Court is a poignant reminder of Strathfieldsaye's earlier agricultural past, surrounded as it is by new houses in a recently constructed subdivision. Along with the police station at 12 Blucher Street, and another much altered and derelict house at 38 Blucher Street, this property is a remnant of Strathfieldsaye before it was part of the urban area of Bendigo. Criterion A

The house is aesthetically significant for its high degree of integrity and demonstration of the architecture of the Queen Anne Revival. This is exemplified in the use of machine made red bricks, arch headed windows, timber verandahs with large section posts and a frieze. The rear section is notable for the large hipped roof and central chimney. Criterion D
