The Yarra Junction War memorial is of local significance due to its historical associations with the local community's involvement in the First World War, and the community's ongoing remembrance of those who have fought and died in war.

A description of the intended memorial is contained in the Record of Memorials (V222). It records the intention to build a "memorial in masonry surmounted by a figure of Anzac soldier ... height about 15 feet".
