Of aesthetic significance because it is a fine example of a substantial

Victorian-era country dwelling and garden. (RNE criterion E.1)

Of historic significance as one of the oldest houses built at the time

of the original Belgrave settlement. Association with Cole (RNE

criterion D.2)

Description

The Gables is a substantial two-storey weatherboard house with corbelled brick chimneys. Adjoining it is a self-contained flat and sheds. The house is surrounded by a well established exotic garden containing two swimming pools.
