Statement of Significance

The Big Tree is of state historical significance due to its age of 200 years. It is a rare example of a fully grown mountain ash, forests of which once covered the area. (Supple 1991)

Description

This large mountain ash tree in the Upper Yarra catchment is amongst several large shining gums. It is 10 metres in diameter at the base and over 60 metres high. (Supple 1991)
