About 25 timber cottages which once belonged to the largest timber mill in Victoria. These cottages were for long the most elaborate timber mill dwellings in the region and, today, they form the only complete group of original mill dwellings in the region. They were built in 1912 when the huge Victorian Powell Wood Process Ltd. mill was constructed. They are all constructed of sawn timber with kangaroo back or single gable corrugated iron roofs. Most of them have had minimal alterations and are in good condition.

The double row at the rear of the present mill are the best examples. (Tansley, 1978)
