Show Place Maps and StreetviewStatement of Significance
An easily recognisable canoe tree; one of only three known Aboriginal sites in the region with existing physical evidence. (Tansley, 1978)
Description
An old yellow box tree with a large scar resulting from the removal of its bark, long ago, by Aborigines for the purpose of making a canoe. It stands in an open paddock overlooking an old swamp, now drained as pasture (Tansley, 1978)
The tree is healthy but the scar, now 8 feet by 2 feet, is in bad condition. The wood is rotting and the tree has grown over its perimeter. (Tansley, 1978)
