Details |
The steamer ROSTREVOR left Hobart bound for Sydney on the 25th August 1919 but grounded on a beach between Cape Everand and Gabo Island. All hands reached shore safely but the vessel soon broke up and the beach was littered with its cargo of fruit, jam and hops. A subsequent Marine Board inquiry found that the master had done all he could to save the vessel, and that it was unsuitable for sea-going purposes.
