Description & History

The church and church hall of St. Matthew's in Prahran has been substantially altered since the original church building was erected to plans by Terry and Oaken in 1887-88. The memorial winodw was a simple diamond leadlight with a panel inset at the base of the light that contains the inscription and names of the choir members who died. It was probably installed in the early 1920s when the Reverend WTC Storrs was incumbent. Unfortunately no complete record of the servicemen and women from the church remains as the Honour Roll was lost when part of the nave and south-west corner of the church was destroyed by fire in 1982. The site has been redeveloped to include commercial space as well as retaining worship and office space for the church.
