Presented by John J. Rogers and Family in memory of the men from this Parish who gave their lives in the Great European War 1914-1918 [list of 21 men]
Description & History
A second First World War memorial, specifically to the men of the parish who gave their lives in the service of their country, was erected by Mr. and Mrs. Rogers and family. A Faculty to erect the memorial was granted in July 1919 and the window was dedicated by the Very Reverend Dean of Melbourne on 23 November 1919 at a service conducted by the vicar, the Rev. EH Hennell.
One of the young men on the list was Hector Tause who has a mural in his honour installed on the south wall of the nave. The mural was designed by George H Dancey (1865-1922), a family friend and designer of the earlier memorial to all servicemen who enlisted from the church. The dedication included the following names: A.R.G. Anderson C. Andrews F.E. Ashton F. Bird W.S. Caulfield L.P. Cowen C.E. Droop C.W. Janssen E.V. Janssen C.G. Keefer G. O'Mara S.H. Simpson R. Smith W.J. Stephens H.A.G. Tause W.G. Taylor A.L. Thomas F.W. Thomas C. West A.S. Wilson
