To the Glory of God in honour of all who served in the cause of freedom 1939-1945 and in memory of those who gave their lives. A tribute from this congregation.

Description & History

The window, Christ Bearing the Cross was erected in honour of the servicemen and women of the Second World War alongside the earlier stained glass honour roll to the men who died in the First World War. Despite being an appropriate subject Christ Bearing the Cross was rarely used for soldier memorials. While the names of fallen servicemen were listed individually, the inscription makes clear reference to the contribution to all those from the church who enlisted 'in the cause of freedom'.The window was signed, 'Mathieson Studios, Melbourne'in the right hand lower margin.

An individual memorial to Kenneth Hepburn was installed on the opposite side of the nave.
