In loving memory of Neville David Craig and Felix Lovell Craig, VX1912, A.A.G., A.I.F., killed in action in Greece on 18th April 1941. Erected by the Craig family and a friend.
Description & History
On 17 December 1944, Archdeacon Joseph Best of Ballarat dedicated a stained glass window in the new Holy Trinity Anglican Church erected after fire engulfed the earlier building in January 1940. The figure of Faith, a knight in armour carrying the cross of faith and the shield of St. George, was surmounted by the Cross and Crown placed in the cusped arch of the window. The badge of the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces was set into the base panel above the inscription. Faith was designed and made by the Melbourne firm, Mathieson & Gibson.
Neville and Felix Craig were born in Nambour, Queensland, sons of Mr. and Mrs. David Craig, where Mr. Craig was manager of the ES&A Bank at the time. Details of Neville David Craig's war service have not been found. Felix Lovell Craig, born on 6 September 1914, was an accountant when he volunteered to join the Victorian University Rifles on 6 July 1938. Private Craig enlisted with 16 Brigade Composite Company AASC and was killed in action in Greece on 18 April 1941. He was buried at Phaleron War Cemetery, Greece.
