The pair of windows was mentioned in Presbyterian Life as follows: "Reports to the meeting showed that two stained glass windows had been dedicated in Rupanyup (Presbyterian) Church - one in memory of A. Cordes, R. Greer, and R. Cromie, who lost their lives in the Second World War, and the other of all the men from the church who served in the war." Window examined from exterior only suggests that the design was by David Taylor Kellock (1913-1988).
Archibald Alfred Cordes, born on 12 August 1917, was a farmer when he enlisted at Rupanyup on 1 July 1940. 'Arch' joined the 9th Division Cavalry Regiment, travelling to the Middle East where he was promoted to Lance Corporal. Lance Corporal Cordes died of wounds on 17 July 1942 in Egypt and was buried in the El Alamein War Cemetery. Robert Charles Greer was born in Collie W.A. on 4 August 1917 and was also a farmer at Rupanyup when he enlisted and served in the 2/23 Battalion in Borneo. Lieutenant Greer was killed in action during the attack on Hospital Spur in the battle for Tarakan, Borneo on 4 May 1945. Ronald Charles Cromie was born on 25 March 1914, a descendant of pioneers in the Rupanyup district and second son of W.J. Cromie, "Termeil", Rupanyup. Captain Cromie sailed to the Middle East in November 1940 and served in Libya, including Tobruk with the 2/23 Battalion before he was killed in action in Egypt, aged 28.
