Description:

The Warrnambool War Memorial was unveiled on Anzac Day 1926, after years of dispute within the community. It was funded by public subscription and placed on Cannon Hill, a prominent site in the town. The monument is 38 feet tall, made largely of granite with a digger soldier at its base (described as having an expression of infinite sadness on his stern face).
