The Nottinghill Avenue of Honour was planted on Blackburn Road to commemorate the First World War. The Avenue comprised of Hybrid Plane trees (Platanus x acerifolia). Today there are no visible remains of the Avenue. In Australia, commemorative trees have been planted in public spaces since the late nineteenth century.
