Longerenong Homestead

Longerenong homestead on the Yarriambiac Creek near Horsham was established as a pastoral lease in 1848. The Wilson brothers acquired the lease in 1856 and on 30th June 1862, Samuel Wilson laid the foundation stone of his new villa residence. Melbourne architects Crouch and Wilson designed this axially planned, two storey brick residence with balcony verandah as a picturesque and complete gothic villa derived from an American pattern book source. 10 St. Johns Parade, Kew, BOROONDARA CITY

Mentioned in ''Lovely Old Homes of Kew' by Mrs D. Rogers as one of Kew's oldest houses. Costruction was reminiscent of prefabricated weatherboard houses and may date from the period 1845-1855. The earliest recorded owner was Samuel Cocking in1865-1880. The house appeared to have undergone little alteration.
