The Post Office is a large, two storey building erected in 1873-74 to the designs of the Public Works Department of Victoria. This replaced a neighbouring bluestone structure of circa 1852. A group of three single storey offices which link up well and are in scale with the adjacent Royal Chambers. Completed in 1894 for the Temperance Society the rendered masonry walls have elaborate mouldings in the round arched and semi-eliptical openings to the doors and windows.
