Tooronga at 258 LaTrobe Terrace, Newtown, was reputedly built in c. 1856 for John Dennis, partner in the firm of Dennis and Osborne, hay, corn and flour merchants. This two storey brick town house is constructed with a slate roof, double post decorated timber verahdah and french windows in an axial composition of unknown design origin but reflecting Regency architectural traditions.
