The original sheep run was established in 1842 by Mr Thomas Vickery who later sold out to Mr Duncan Cooper. The property was sold again in 1854 to Mr William Lewis. The Lewis family were important in the development of sheep breeding and grazing and the development of fine Merino wool in the Western district area.
