The Chinese have occupied this site since 1862. The present buildings were erected in 1883 in face brickwork with rendered cornices. The use of arched openings on the ground floor and the irregular size and placement of openings is unusual. This simple detailed symmetrical block of three two-storey rendered brick shops with residences over was erected in 1872/73 for Michael Jackman. In 1876 some alterations were carried out by George Jobbins, including a verandah linking the three shop fronts, but this has unfortunately been demolished. Part of Warrnambool Historic Area.
