Lodge & Gates at Rupertswood, Macedon Street, Sunbury, comprise the elaborate gates and adjacent lodge erected with the main house in 1874 for Sir William Clarke, to the designs of architect George Brown. The lodge is asymmetrically composed and is constructed in stone relieved by lighter dressings, a motif repeated to the iron palisade fence. Rupertswood is an elaborate mansion built for landowner, stud-breeder and philanthropist Sir William Clarke in 1874, to designs by architect George Brown. The two-storey, symmetrically planned house has a huge tower with a very tall Mansart Roof and widows walk. A double storey cast iron verandah with gutter cappings and paired columns faces the house.
