The original owner of the land, comprising 12,600 hectares was John Brown, who also built the original house. He lived here until 1852, when the property passed into other hands. The Dennis family took over the property in 1864, building the present woolshed and 2-storey house from stone quarried on the property. Still standing also are the blacksmith's shop and the chimney of a Chinese cook's house.

Brick walls in Flemish or Belgian bond, on bluestone blocks. Roof supported by 14 steel pillars. Built for Michael Byrne Carroll in 1874. Several tenants until Dodd and Hargreaves took over the building as wool brokers and agents. Now folk museum.
