A free standing two storeyed symmetrical bluestone mansion with finely detailed stucco-rendered facade of classic simplicity. It is a very elegant house, one of the few surviving mansions in East Melbourne in a good state of preservation and adds considerably to the streetscape.

A very substantial timber construction designed by the Italian architect, Boldini, in 1889/90 as a spa sanitorium; notable for intricately detailed timber-work, especially on the tower. Clyde Girls Grammar School 1919-1975. The modern additions at the rear of the main building and all other buildings in the grounds are excluded from the classification.
