This tree is a local landmark as it can be seen across the lake from the wharf at Mallacoota.The tree is in excellent condition and is symetrical in form.
According to local history books, the original township and hotel were founded in the 1880s and it is believed that this tree was planted by the original hotel owners at around the same time.
The old hotel site can be found approximately 1.5km south of the Rangers Hutt jetty.
