What is significant? The pipe organ built in 1868 by George Fincham, of Richmond, for Christ Church Anglican Church, Warrnambool was the earliest known pipe organ in western Victoria, west of Ballarat and Geelong. It was moved to the Congregational Church, Warrnambool in 1891 and to its present location in 1940. The instrument is significant as the second earliest Fincham instrument to survive essentially intact. The lower Gothic casework incorporates unusual trefoil arcading, this extending across the console doors.
How is it significant? The organ is significant for historic, aesthetic and technical reasons at a local level
Why is it significant? The pipe organ at the Uniting Church is significant for the following reasons:
-- It is the second earliest example of Fincham's Australian work to survive essentially intact;
-- The casework is unusual for the period, with the provision of unusual trefoil panelled arches across the base and the absence of any transom rail.
