Statement of Significance

Outstanding size
Outstanding example of species

This tree is significant as it is a mature example of the species with a relatively large canopy spread to height ratio. There are few know specimens of this size in cultivation in Victoria. It is in excellent fruiting condition given it is growing on an exposed seaside position less than 100 metres from the beach.
Point Cook was once part of the huge pastoral estate belonging to the Chirnside family, who built Werribee Park Mansion. Five fruit trees together with other food plants were planted in 1872.
