How is it significant? The organ is significant for historic and aesthetic reasons at a regional level
Why is it significant? The pipe organ at the Church of Christ, Geelong is significant for the following reasons:
- It retains its original mechanisms and wind system
- It retains its original casework
- It retains all of its original pipework, except for one rank, later replaced by a Gamba
- It is one of several organs known to have been exported by Courcelle to Melbourne and Geelong in the late 1850s and early 1860s
- It is the only Courcelle organ remaining in Geelong in close to original form
- It is the oldest surviving organ in Geelong
- It clearly shows the influence of English organ builder J.C. Bishop in its construction, with whom Courcelle had worked.
