Particularly old The tree was planted in 1842 by Kate Wills, daughter the owner of "Lucerne Farm'. The owner,Thomas Wills, a magistrate, was one of the leaders in the fight for separation of Victoria from NSW. The original mansion of brick and bluestone was built around 1841 and a lavish English style garden was established around it. The acorn for this tree was brought back from NSW and a 1920's publication described the tree as being the oldest and largest in Victoria. The mansion was demolished in 1960 for the present clubhouse.
