Statement of Significance

Particularly old
Outstanding size

A large veteran tree which survived the 1939 and possibly earlier fires. The tree was much taller but lost its upper crown probably in 1939. The uppermost part of the tree is now a section of dead bole and its present crown has developed entirely from epicormic growth. E. denticulata is a new species described in 1991, separated from E. nitens mainly by its denticulated adult leaf margins, less persistent juvenile foliar stage and lack of fluorescence ( under UV) polyphenol in the leaves.
