Curious growth form Jan 2013. The tree is now difficult to see from the roadside as numerous saplings have grown up on the verge.
Known as the 'Immortal Red Gum', this venerable treehas at one time fallen over and continued to grow with the main branches now forming the canopy. The tree has re-rooted at several contact points and the massive branch structure exhibits gnarled, serpentine limbs, giving the tree and almost prehistoric quality. Clearly visible from the road the tree has unfortunately been the target of illegal woodcutters who have removed a number of live branches without theowners' permission.
