Location or Context: contribution to landscape

A fine row of 14 Osage Orange trees which are uncommon in cultivation in Victoria. The species originates from the USA and was available in Victoria from the 1860s, being recommended as a suitable hedgeplant or windbreak. The planting date is unknown however the trees were already on the property in1934 when John Reed purchased the land. The trees are ingood condition although the ivy should be removed, They form an important landscape feature andthe Gallery building was designed with the row of trees in mind
