A magnificent River Red Gum commonly referred to as 'Old Be-al', and one of the best known trees in Victoria. This isolated specimen is growing in sandy soil and is surrounded by a deep litter of leaves. The tree is in excellent condition considering its location in an extremely harsh environment
It is located 1 km North-West of Lake Jerriwirrup

UPDATE 2024
Tree was burnt by fires in 1982, with significant dead wood now present.
Location: Heading into the park from Wyperfeld Entrance road turn left at Black Flat Track and follow right along Black Flat Track (gets renamed Camerons Track) and follow this to a junction where it becomes true Camerons Track that essentially runs north then west – east for approximately 7 kilometres where then it joins to the left Everard Track where it runs east – west. Follow this for approximately 5 kilometres to the water tank where it briefly runs north along Meridian Track for 50 metres where a right-hand track picks up Jerriwirrup Track for about 3 kilometres and follow to the informal carpark. From there by foot travel 400 metres north over the sand hill to the tree below.
