Historical value

This large and fine specimen was planted by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1867. 'The Hill' property was purchased by William Robertson, pioneer cattle breeder, in 1843 and inherited by his son William, while his other son, George, owned neighbouring 'Cororooke House'.
Only the billiard room of the original house at 'The Hill' remains, and the tree survives in a large parkland now grazed by cattle
