Contribution to landscape

This is an impressive row of Algerian Oak planted in 1890 by Sidney John Webb.(see tablet at intersection of Webb St). Q canariensis is native to the Iberian peninsula and north Africa.
All the trees on the south side of the avenue were cut down in the 1960s by the Road Authority.
One tree was transplanted in 1999 with aid of the National Trust.
