This is an impressive specimen of Sequoia sempervirens located opposite the kiosk/cafe at front of park. Growth is crowded by the Druids Oak.
It is the only Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) in the Gardens in contrast to the 30 plus Sierra Redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum)
These two species are both native to northern America but occur in totally different environments. S sempervirens occurs along the coast of California and S giganteum. is found inland in the drier areas
