This Pinus ponderosa is an imposing specimen and the tallest tree in the Ballarat Botanic Gardens and is noted for its beautiful bark. It is located near the 'Statue of Summer'.
In the middle of the 19th century, the Pinus ponderosa, native to western North America, was planted to see how it would acclimatise in the Ballarat Gardens.
