Contribution to the landscape This species is a native of Southern Mexico and south to Venezuela and Colombia. It was very popular during the late 1800s for planting due to due to its large juvenile leaves. The only known examples in cultivation in Victoria occur at Geelong (1), Portland (2), Koroit (1) and Royal Botanic Gardens (2).
