Rare or Localised Measurements: 23/11/1995
Located some 5 metres down a 2.5 metre embankment, this stand exhibits a mix of uncharacteristic red and pink flowers. Together with another small stand in the Illawara Forest south-west of Stawell, they are possibly the only known occurence of red and pink flowering variety of the species in Victoria. The form of the trees vary and the measured specimen is the largest of the stand, closest to the road. The trees have been fenced off and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has collected seed in the past for propagation at nurseries.
The tree is located in a road reserve on the Western Highway, Deep Lead, west of the culvert on the embankment at the end of the rail line.
