Historical value

This is an old River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) with historical significance. It was the site of the first Catholic mass service held in Wahgunyah in 1869 by Father W Tierney, Parish Priest of Beechworth. A brass plaque detailing this information is attached to the tree.
The tree is located in a road reserve at the end of Short Street.
